Eeek....that's terrible. I'm so sorry! I work at an arts and crafts supply store, and oil paints are not cheap. I hope you can get your locks fixed quickly.

Oh I'm so sorry! It can be so disappointing witnessing the uglier side of human nature. I could never imagine stealing anything from anyone! I hope you're able to get it all worked out and get new paints [img]graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

I am so sorry! I would be devastated if my art supplies were gone!! I have collected them from many sources, as I am sure you must have! I am sending sympathy your way for your loss and inconvenience! Who does these things???
Justin's car was broken into last year and two things were stolen: his bible and a pair of socks. Interesting choices, eh? They didn't touch the CD's or anything. Justin says he hopes the thief cracked open the bible and read some of the places Justin had highlighted. haha
My friend Daya had her car broken into at the grocery store and the thief took only her bag of knitting. Weird, since she had a lot of things in her car that would appeal to most thiefs.
My parents had a plastic beach toy (shovel) stolen from the (unlocked) car when I was little.
moral of the story: thieves are unpredictable and have interesting taste.
a bag of knitting??? Who steals a bag of knitting?

thanks guys... kind of bummed about my paints. I just bought supplies today too. I had 7 tubes of paint at about $10-12 each, linseed oil, turpentine, palette knives, heh an old shirt that I paint in, rags and paint thinner in the shopping bag they took.
so yeah SimplePretty definately weird tastes in what people steal.. I really have nothing worth any value in my car. The paint was half used. My backpack had school papers in it, plus my sketch book for class >.< grrr...
Totally busted my locks but were "nice" enough to relock my car.... And the police are "busy" and it could take them a week to get to me... weak.

I'm sorry Magdalen, that's such a nuisance and apart from the stolen art supplies you have to pay the repair on the logs and the inconvenient that comes with it.
I was wondering if some of the thieves just grab the bags they see and only check what they really got when they get home or wherever. Just imagine the look on their faces when they open them up and find some of the goods they stole, like the knitting

I am sorry to hear that. That kind of thing always makes me sad and mad!!!!
I have had two cars broken into and one car stolen from my husband work. The stolen car was recovered by the police about 9 days later. They had punched the ingnition out and riped one of the fenders off and had done damage to the underbody. The police found it in a field stuck in the mud about 70 miles from my house. My daughter Nicole who was just a year old then had some baby toys and little snow boots and stuff in the backseat and it was still there, but it was so weird try to drive the car afterthat. I felt so violated and using a screwdriver for key was really weird too!!!!!!!! We had plpd only this car so we couldn't get it fixed, we just ended up getting rid of it.
The other times a window had been busted out to get our car stereo and I had a portable cd player with one of my fav cds stolen out of my car before, later I found my cd and player for sale that summer at the papergirls house, during our annual garage sales!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I confronted her but she would not admit, even though it was scratched in the same place and too much of a coincidence, I just let it go.
Another time we woke up to have our whole back windshield busted out. You always feel so violated when stuff like that happens to your property.

I'm really sorry this happened to you. Manda's car got broken into last year in front of our house (we live in a town with 3000 people where nothing ever happens) and she was really traumatized by it. She was afraid parking her car at night and walking in, so my husband had to put up an extra, motion sensor light on the garage, for her to feel safer.
If the receipt for the things you just bought was in the bag with the supplies, you might want to call the store and tell them what happened, and ask if they could keep an eye out for someone trying to bring back those exact items-there is always a chance that the thief will try to return them for cash. Even if the receipt wasn't in the bag, I would call them just on the chance, especially if it was a smaller art store, not a large craft chain. I doubt the theif was actually after art supplies, especially since they were in your trunk. I would imagine he just grabbed whatever he could get his hands on.
Good luck, and let us know what happens.

I am SO sorry.
My best friend had her house broken into a couple years ago. She was out at a cast party for Les Mis, and her parents had gone out that night too. Her older sister was in Hawaii.
Her parents and sister's room were gone through the worst--her room was barely touched, but she said she could see where they had rummaged through all of her drawers.
Her sister's car and tv were stolen, and (how's this for irony) they placed her Bible on the tv stand before they left. They took all of her mother's jewelry except for a cross necklace she has.
Odd, hmm?
Her sist'ers car was later recovered. They didn't tell her what happened until she was home from Hawaii though. Didn't want to ruin her time.
